1. The Changing of the guard.
Vince McMahon is 69 years old and that means that his time on this earth is becoming limited unless of course, you ask him. And hey, I don't blame him for thinking that way, have you seen the latest issue of Muscle and Fitness? Dude's a beast.
case and point. |
Instead of what you have in the WWE right now where its for the admiration of the WWE universe. I think last years build up to Wrestlemania was a perfect example of what the WWE were capable of doing during a championship chase with Daniel Bryan. Seeing glimpses of that this year with both Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan on their chase to Wrestlemania but, where is that year round? Why should I watch the product the rest of the year? The sad truth of the matter is this, Vince is just out of touch with this new generation of fans and also, wrestlers.
During his podcast with Steve Austin he talked about the milennials and how they weren't working as hard as the last generation, none of them seemed worthy of the "brass ring". In my opinion, it just seems like there isn't a lot of new guys who have the "look" the McMahon is a custom to. Guys like Hulk Hogan, Batista, John Cena and Randy Orton. The new generation of wrestlers might not have the "look" but, they have the skills. Most of these new faces have wrestled 10+ years around the world. Guys like Cesaro, Rollins, Ambrose and Bryan are no rookies to the business. But, they are getting held back while talents like Roman Reigns are being pushed before they have the tools available to them to handle it. Now, that's not saying I don't think Reigns won't be a great asset for the WWE for years to come, just not right now.I'm gonna wrap up this part of the series with this statement...... I hope that in the near future we have wrestlers who are pushed because they can talk and also put on a 20 minute match. Not only will they have the fan support, either good or bad, but they will also catch the eye of the casual fan who is intrigued by the story being put in front of them.
That's the end of Part 1 in this 3 Part series. Did I miss anything on this point? Did I ramble on too long? Let me know in the comment section and also on twitter @TheJacobDReyes
Thanks for reading.
Until Next Time,
Jacob
