Jerry Lawler: The Legend That Keeps On Giving

Jerry "The King" Lawler has really earned that nickname of the king over his career. From his days in Memphis to now, Lawler has done pretty much everything in his career. He has held multiple championships in fact more than anyone else. Lately though, Lawler has been used to enhance talent by becoming an announcer and also sometimes used to wrestle main event talent. In early 2011 Jerry went into a feud with then WWE champion the Miz for his title. This was Lawler first chance at the WWE title and he fought hard in a ladder match where he almost captured the championship.

He would lose to Miz one last time to end his dreams of becoming the champion of World Wrestling Entertainment. It seems through the years "The King" has been a proving ground for Superstars to prove that they deserve respect, which shows how much of an impact the hall of famer has had on the pro wrestling world.

Enter the newest Superstar to go after Lawler, CM Punk. The WWE Champion has gone on a tirade trying to get respect from his peers after he has shown them respect by letting them main event instead of him even being the WWE Champion. Well Lawler seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time on the 8-20-12 episode of RAW. As CM Punk just gave Lawler a beating to prove he is the man.  He called out Lawler last night on RAW and told him basically the truth that he is part of the problem why he is getting no respect by slandering him. Punk wanted to fight Lawler and Jerry accepted. The audience had the decision which turned into a steel cage match. Punk destroyed Lawler locking him into the cage and kneeing him over and over again in the skull. Before that occurred though, Jerry looked strong against the champ. It just shows how great The King can be used and I'm sure how he will be used until he decides not to bring the tights anymore and just announce the action. I don't see that happening soon.

Thanks for reading!

Till next time,
