Superstars of the Future: Derrick Bateman

Derrick Bateman, also known as the most patriotic superstar in the WWE, was first seen in the national spotlight as a contestant on the 4th season of WWE NXT. He shined all the way through the competition with his mentor Daniel Bryan the duo worked really well together in the ring and in backstage segments. Bateman really showed me that he could be a great performer in the ring with a solid moveset that was well executed and outside of the ring with his hilarious backstage segments with Daniel Bryan and anyone else that he would run across. Below is an example of what I mean when Bryan tries teaching Bateman a submission move.
Derrick Bateman came in third place on NXT and would disappear from the WWE for almost a year, when he did return, it was to NXT Redemption as a surprise entrant and part of the final 3 of that season. As the season went on however, it seemed to matter less and less about who was going to win as the season continued into complete oblivion as it turned into WWE Superstars with actual storylines and became the most compelling show WWE had to offer and Derrick had a lot to do with that. His rivalry with Johnny Curtis, that involved mutual love interest Maxine, proved to be entertaining and showed off both superstars ring awareness and to me, showed that they were both ready for the main roster. Here is their final match to date from the new NXT.

Now after NXT Redemption came to its conclusion it seemed as though Bateman was on his way to the promise land which is either being on RAW or Smackdown!. Yes, he was on Smackdown a few times but his appearances mostly consisted of being squashed by guys like newcomer and fellow NXT alum Ryback. So Bateman has been on NXT again like the video above, however though there's been some Youtube videos of a man called The USA Guy standing up for what is right and fighting off foreigners and bad guys from the USA. The man looks a lot like Derrick Bateman and it seems to go off the character that Bateman mostly goes by. If this is the case then I can't wait until he shows up on Smackdown or even RAW! It would be a great change of pace from the regular comic relief of Santino Marella and hopefully they use him as someone who can be funny but also is tough to compete against in the ring. The sky truly is the limit for Bateman as an entertainer and as a wrestler overall and I'm so excited as a fan of wrestling as maybe Bateman will have what it takes to attract fans who have always had a problem with wrestling being too dramatic and predictable with Derricks sense of humor and just the way he presents himself as a natural superstar who is a big deal. Now to leave you this week, here is the first USA Guy video... Until next week..... Hold on to your flagpoles.

Thanks for reading!

Till next time,
